Published by Midway Games, UT2007 is powered by Epic's new Unreal Engine 3, and is due to be released on PC and PlayStation 3 in the second quarter (April-June) of 2006. Rumors of a future Xbox 360 release have not been confirmed.

Gameplay

Unreal Tournament 2007 promises a return to the "feel" of the original Unreal Tournament. While UT2004's double-jumping and dodge-jumping will remain, Epic aims to make the game more fast-paced and less "floaty". Epic stresses that the aim with UT2007 is to create a whole new - and better - game, rather than merely a prettier UT2004. In addition to this, old favorites from the original UT such as jump boots and the ability to feign death will return in UT2007.

The gametypes present in the new title reflect the blend of old and new. UT2004's Onslaught makes a triumphant return, along with the classic Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and CTF modes.

Epic is also introducing a brand-new gametpye called Unreal Warfare, which appears to be verging into MMO territory. This time it's also likely that vehicles will appear in standard CTF gameplay, rather than being included in a seperate Vehicle CTF gametype a la UT2004.

While details of this new gametype are still sketchy, Unreal Warfare maps are set to be potentially as large as three Onslaught maps, with 'Assault'-like sub-objectives and even a limited form of resource management. Players will join one of the eight teams, each with its own unique armour, and wage war across huge territories which change depending on which team is in control.

Unreal Tournament 2007 promises a return to the "feel" of the original Unreal Tournament.
Next Generation trailer. The trailer starts off in an urban war-torn...

Next Generation trailer.

The trailer starts off in an urban war-torn environment. Buildings are demolished, rubble lies all around, and there’s an eerie glow throughout the city. Tanks, soldiers of the future, and mechanical creatures roam the city as aerial chaos is present overhead. We’re abruptly introduced to a very matured, battle scarred Solid Snake, sporting a nifty piece of electronic eye gear. At this point, we can assume the setting of MGS4 will take place smack dab in the middle of an ultra futuristic real world war zone. As the trailer progresses, your greeted by an old friend, but not in the form you would expect. Octagon is projected through a real time mobile video device, which treads alongside Snake offering a few words of wisdom in a time of need. Surrounded, running out of options, and with guaranteed death closing in, Snake sprints into the horizon as the trailer comes to a close. Leaving us with many unanswered questions, but with a new perspective on the future of the series.

Kojima Productions sets the bar.

According to Kojima Productions, their plans are to take MGS into the next generation, utilizing the consoles’ technology to the fullest. “When objects break, the sound generated from the breakage differs according to the weight and hardness of the object, and the content of the objects becomes exposed”, says the production company. This statement alone invokes very high expectations of the Playstation 3’s capabilities.

During an event at the Tokyo Game Show last week, Hideo Kojima announced MGS4 would be the last title in the series he will be developing. This will undoubtedly hit hard within the massive MGS fan base. "As a game designer, I want to make something new", says Kojima. Art director Yoji Shinkawa, has also officially stated MGS4 will be his last work within the series. With this being Kojima’s last work on the MGS series, and the amount of innovation promised in the games production, all signs lead to this being the Metal Gear that tops them all!

As part of its revolving list of trailers at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show, Sony...

As part of its revolving list of trailers at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show, Sony Computer Entertainment unveiled a brand new teaser from its upcoming flight action title from Incognito known as Warhawk. The follow-up to 1996's PlayStation one title of the same name, Warhawk is very pretty hover-shooter that looks like it'll be played much in the same way it was the first time -- as a third and first-person cockpit blaster with attackers coming from every imaginable angle in a 3D space.

In the trailer on display in the PlayStation 3 Theater, it wasn't exactly clear if what we saw was actual in-game footage, or a mock-up of what gameplay would eventually be like ala the Killzone PS3 trailer shown earlier this year. Nonetheless, the video did imply that players can expect to take on multiple futuristic aircraft all at once while using a large red targeting HUB to help shoot the multiple bogies down. If you've ever played the original Warhawk or Sony's great Colony Wars series, then you'll know exactly what kind of game Warhawk PS3 appears to be as well.

Just like every other PS3 game trailer we've seen, the video of Warhawk was visually impressive. A huge number of craft were all on the screen at the same time and had plenty of detail to go along with them. The environments were equally detailed, but exactly original, as it amounted to little more than a sea-based landscape with lots of clouds and enemies but not much else. Even so, it looked great.

Hopefully we'll have more to report on Warhawk PS3 in the coming weeks, but for now that's about all TGS had to offer. As usual, though, we'll keep you updated on further developments.
